Putting the art in Artspace

Artspace provides affordable live/work space for more than 1,100 artists and their families.  Meet some of the individual artists who bring vitality to our spaces.

Eric Joseph

Karcher Artspace Lofts resident, Eric Joseph, is a professional photographer and videographer for special events. He specializes in portraits, family photos, proms, weddings, anniversaries, brthdays, corporate events, short films, music videos, commercials and more.

Jason Kanter

Jason Kanter is a NY-based standup comic and writer who has performed in various theaters and appeared on TV and radio, including Gotham Comedy Live. 

Bill Keys

Bill, a public poet and PS109 resident artist, is otherwise known as "the Poet Guy." He has composed more than 5,000 personal poems for people on various city streets with his 1917 Corona typewriter and a sign that reads "Poems about anyone or anything."

Vesna Kittelson

Vesna Kittelson grew up in the ancient Roman city of Split in Croatia. Her primary themes in painting can be grouped into four or five categories:  large cutout paper abstractions,  figurative and abstract thinking, and most recently she has developed a body of self portraits and portraits.

Alenka Kraigher

El Barrio's Artspace PS109 resident, Alenka Kraigher, is an actor, writer and film director who has appeared Off-Broadway and in many downtown theaters. She has a degree in Film and TV Directing from The Academy for Theater, Radio, Film and Televsion, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, and has written and directed short films and documentaries shown internationally in over twenty countries.

Darrell Lloyd

Darrell Lloyd is a photojournalist currently living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. With over 15 years of experience, Lloyd does a variety of events. From concerts to portraits, Lloyd is a self motivated creative with an eye for perfection.

Niki Lopez

As an original member of Sailboat Bend Artist Lofts (2009 recipient of the Louis Davis Sailboat Bend Artist Lofts “Resident of the Year” award), Niki has been an integral  part of the creation of the 1310 Gallery space located within the lofts, where residents create monthly art exhibitions, workshops, and outreach programs. 

Ruth A. Lopez

Ruth A. Lopez, a painter, expresses her appreciation for The Evergreen State as she describes the landscape of the Northwest as "breathtaking and inspiring."

Ruthie Lund

Ruthie Lund creates custom stained glass, restores historic leaded glass windows, and teaches glass classes through Saint Paul Community Education. She is also the President of the Board of Directors at the Tilsner Artists' Cooperative and the St. Paul Art Crawl Building Organizer for the building.

Kathy Lynott

Mixed media artist and creative entrepreneur Kathy Lynott currently resides at Artspace Everett Lofts. Lynott is the founder of her own handmade art business, Frivolous Notions, launched in 2013. You can find Lynott's painted tiles and other handmade items on Facebook. 

Rene Maynez

El Barrio's Artspace PS109 resident, Rene Maynez, was born in Chihuahua, Mexico and is a mostly self taught multi-media artist whose work has been shown in New York, Mexico and Spain. In 1969 he began studying painting at the local museum in his hometown in Mexico, he has been living and working in New York City since 1981.

Jesse Medina

Jesse Medina is a painter and resident artist at Harvester Artspace Lofts.


Jesús Papoleto Meléndez

Raised in New York City’s east Harlem, poet and playwright Jesús Papoleto Melendez is one of the founding poets of the Nuyorican poetry movement and a current resident of PS109. His short-lined, quick-turning poems engage city life through a mosaic of metaphor and song. 

Matthew J. Modlinski

Matthew J. Modlinski is a musician from Dearborn, Michigan. Modlinski has been playing guitar for 14 years, working with various local bands. Currently, Modlinski writes and performs his own music under the name, Matt J.

Zoran Mojsilov

With the availiblity of larger studios, Grain Belt studio resident Zoran Mojsilov’s sculptural assemblages increased in scale. Exhibiting at outdoor venues like Socrates Sculpture Park and Grounds For Sculputre also provided new opportunities for him. Since the late 80’s, he has completed numerous public art projects around the U.S. , France, and Serbia.


Gilbert Molina

Gilbert is a performer, member of Magis Theatre Company and currently teaches acting at Essex County College. He is a proud resident of PS109. 

Tabatha Mudra

Tabatha Mudra

Resident Artist of Sailboat Bend Artist Lofts Tabatha Mudra feels that her personal work is her social responsibility. Through her artistic medium, photography, her projects range from portraits to essays chronicling themes that include but are not limited to individual struggle and perseverance, intimacy and relationships and gender identity and self-expression.

Brooklyn Murphy

Brooklyn Murphy is a film, television and theatre actor. Murphy has studied at the Oxford School of Drama in England, Bova Actors Studio in New York, Cypress College and the Atlanta Film Institute. Starring in numerous films, theatre productions and television commercials, Murphy is a skilled and versatile actor with over 20 years of comedic and dramatic expertise.

Jon Neuse

Resident Artist at Traffic Zone Center for Visual Art, John Neuse, uses playfulness, experimentation and judgement as the principles behind his art.

Ellen O'Brien

Ellen O'Brien is a East Coast-based singer and performer and resident of PS109. She has worked with Bo Diddley, Rex Rideout, Mary J. Blige, Blackstreet, the Boston Pops, Cee Cee Penderton, Rachelle Ferrell, Jeff Golub, Chris Parker, Tony Bennett, Mary Wilson, D Train, Orleans, Phil Wilson, and Rebecca Paris.


Nzingah Oniwosan

Nzingah Oniwosan, resident at Sailboat Bend Artist Lofts,  is an award winning visual artist, jewelry designer, classically trained pianist, published poet, and up and coming African and Haitian folklore dancer.

Elliott Ortiz C.

Elliott Ortiz C. is a visionary artistic director, choreographer and producer who has extensive experience collaborating for Performing Arts institutions in South America, Europe, Canada and more recently in USA. 

Ru Otto

Ru has been a visual artist and a writer her entire life. Although restricted by post polio and in a wheelchair, she majored in painting at Ohio State University and Berkley California in the late 60's. It was there she developed his vivid painterly style and her love affair with color.

Steve Ozone

Steve Ozone is a photographer currently residing at the Traffic Zone Center for Visual Art in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A former commercial photographer, Ozone is a third-generation Japanese-Chinese American who creates images that investigate his culture and ancestry through still lifes and portraiture.

Denise Palmieri

Denise has worked for a local newspaper shooting assignments and freelancing shooting weddings and family portraits. She now resides at Artspace Patchogue Lofts with forty talented artists, and is continuing her street portfolio and shooting fashion for a local talent manager.
