Atikur Abdul

El Barrio's Artspace PS109 resident Atikur Abdul was born in Bangladesh and raised in New York. The self-taught artist majored in Liberal Arts at LaGuardia Community College. His art is inspired by major historical and current events. His goal in life is to enlighten the next generation through art, hoping it will captivate and motivate them to break down boundaries and unite the world. Abdul predominantly works with oil paint and Sharpie markers, but experiments with all mediums including glass, metals, tree bark and fabric. His work has been shown at Smack Mellonin Brooklyn, New York and Princeton University in corporation with the Woodrow Wilson School, Bernstein Gallery.
